The Role:

We’re hiring a data science leader to help us make data-driven decisions about all aspects of our business. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will build and lead a team that will bring cutting edge data science to Brava’s product development, user acquisition, and operations. Help us find answers to difficult questions like:

The Candidate:

You are a structured thinker who can impose order on the most vague or complex questions. You’re passionate about data: you get excited when you hear about new R/Python packages and when you see new data visualizations. You also understand that the most intellectually engaging or technically complex analysis is useless unless it influences a decision. Join us and help build a device that improves a fundamental aspect of everyday life!

Things You'll Own/Do:

  • Partner with Product and Business Operations to identify, prioritize, and answer the most important business questions where analytics has leverage to produce actionable insights

  • Provide mentorship, skill development, and growth opportunities for the Data Science team

  • Champion sound decision-making at all levels of the company

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data visualization to produce insights that improve the product and business

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • 8+ years doing quantitative analysis; 2+ years managing analysts and data scientists

  • Degree in a quantitative or technical field such as statistics, economics, or applied mathematics; advanced degree preferred

  • Track record of guiding teams through complex and ambiguous problems to produce business impact

  • Experience mapping business needs to engineering systems

  • Built and managed inclusive, diverse teams

  • Tenth-degree black belt level mastery of SQL and either Python or R

  • Appreciate the challenges of building informative, high-resolution data visualizations

  • Ability to ruthlessly prioritize between multiple high-impact projects


Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with D3 or other advanced visualization technologies

  • Professional or personal interest in food and cooking

  • Experience with connected devices
