As an Engineering Technician, you will work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers, reliability engineers, systems integration specialists and scientific experimentalists to ensure Brava’s current and future products are of the highest performance, quality and reliability for our customers. You will be responsible for providing imaginative, practical, and comprehensive support for Brava product repair, maintenance, diagnostics and prototyping. You will also take part in the ongoing research and development stages that will include construction and setup of test equipment, design and assembly of test fixtures, and performance and evaluation of tests.
Things You’ll Own/Do:
Assemble electronic and mechanical prototypes and devices using mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and associated work instructions
Diagnose and report mechanical and electrical faults and causes of faults at component level using root cause analysis techniques
Perform fine-pitch solder and BGA rework, as well as wiring and cable assembly rework
Drive appropriate corrective actions to ensure minimal reoccurrence of failures
Create custom environments and fixtures to test electronic and mechanical components
Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and repair test equipment at the component level
Document and maintain detailed records of repairs, tests and diagnostics
Manage, prioritize, execute and communicate status of work requests from engineering and product groups
Operate and maintain a safe working environment for all employees at all times
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
3+ years of experience in testing or operating and troubleshooting mechanical or electronic equipment in a lab environment (5+ years of experience is a plus!)
Experience using hand tools and electronic measurement equipment including digital multimeters and oscilloscopes
Ability to consistently perform freehand hot air BGA & fine-pitch rework soldering
Experience with sensors such as thermocouples, strain gauges and accelerometers
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and determine appropriate measurement points given a schematic
Ability to safely isolate failures in electrical and mechanical subsystems with troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Knowledge of basic physics and engineering principles
Ability to document diagnostic processes and create written procedures that are repeatable by others
Ability to complete assigned work requests and manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to work closely with other team members, engineers, scientists, and executives as well as independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability and desire to creatively solve problems
Associate’s degree or above in electronics, chemistry, physics, or engineering
