The Role:

The Brava Product Development & Sales Chef will be a core member of a team of experienced chefs and kitchen staff that will be tasked to support retail and events sales, cook at special events and develop healthful recipes that showcase the quality of featured ingredients in an elegant, artful manner. You will lead retail and events demos and support the content team in developing culinary content. You will be equally comfortable preparing omnivorous and vegetarian dishes. While this is not a Monday-Friday role we aim to offer 2 consecutive days off per week.


Things You’ll Own/Do:

  • Own demos at our Palo Alto retail store (2-3 days per week, including Saturdays and/or Sundays) and train supporting retail staff in demo best practices.

  • Assist R&D chefs in planning and execution of special events throughout the country. Will involve some travel.

  • Design, execute and plate complete meals and develop written recipes (2-3 days per week) at our Redwood City test kitchen.

  • Support non-kitchen personnel, particularly those working in Content and Marketing, with training and food preparation as needed

  • Mentor junior kitchen staff in recipe development and kitchen operations

  • Quality assess ingredients and recipes and ensure careful documentation of finished products

  • Collaborate with the Culinary Analyst and Engineering teams to to imagine, design and implement new cooking methods using our product

  • Carefully document new cooking methods and techniques that you have a hand in developing


Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Experience in a professional kitchen, recipe development kitchen or equivalent.

  • Comfort and confidence demonstrating and selling our product to a wide variety of audiences

  • Creativity to develop innovative, yet approachable, meal and recipe concepts

  • Proficiency in taking a meal from concept to plating to complete written recipe

  • A working knowledge of both conventional and modern cooking techniques

  • A curiosity for discovery combined with the creative drive to design and actualize new concepts

  • Recipe development experience

  • Strong communication, organization, planning and reasoning skills

  • Curiosity and passion for technology and kitchen hardware

  • Experience in a professional test kitchen

  • Retail sales experience

  • Baking experience

  • A background in the sciences or engineering, traditional or food-related
