The Role:

As Brava’s Software Systems Support Analyst, Internet of Things, you will play a key role in the development and support of game-changing hardware products.  You will lead the company’s efforts to analyze, prioritize and address systems operations and networking issues involving our advanced IoT devices, including issues facing our end-customers and our internal teams.  The role provides opportunities to work with a variety of Brava teams, including embedded software engineers, electronics design and quality engineers, laboratory technicians, and customer care specialists.

 

Things You'll Own/Do:

  • Quickly diagnose, root-cause and resolve operating system and networking issues in Linux environments

  • Develop and document efficient diagnostic methods to allow front-line customer care specialists to quickly and effectively resolve end-customer software problems, and resolve issues that they the front-line specialists cannot

  • Collect and analyze data from software systems (including system logs) to troubleshoot software issues

  • Scale our development, production, and customer care processes

  • Develop and manage remote diagnostics of software running on IoT devices in customers’ homes

  • Actively participate in the product debugging process

  • Make recommendations for design improvements, especially design changes that enhance supportability

  • Occasionally support information technology infrastructure at Brava headquarters

 

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in systems or networking operations

  • Deep understanding of Linux, including systemd

  • Significant experience with core networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, WiFi and BLE

  • Strong understanding of and experience writing shell scripts

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze system logs

  • Strong debugging skills

  • Flexibility with working hours from time to time

  • Excellent analytic, diagnostic, pattern-matching and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability and interest to work with and contribute to support knowledge base tools

  • Demonstrated ability and interest to work with support ticket management tools

  • Team-player approach and attitude

  • Passion for understanding and solving problems

 

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with deployment of large numbers of IoT devices

  • Experience contributing to a help desk

  • Experience with Windows operating system

  • Knowledge of basic electronics
